This group meets the first Wednesday of the month, September through December and February through June, at 3 p.m., in the Community Room at the Wallingford Public Library. We read both classic and contemporary mysteries and have been meeting since 2011. Books are chosen thematically; this Fall’s theme is “The Game’s Afoot,” mysteries involving sports.
Fall 2023: The Game’s Afoot (all hybrid – in person or on Zoom)
“The game’s afoot” is a phrase often used by Sherlock Holmes to Watson to mark the start of a crime-solving adventure. In the books for this fall, we’ll read about crimes that involve actual games: basketball, football and tennis.
September 6: Harlan Coben, Drop Shot (1996)
October 4: Robert B. Parker, Playmates (1989)
November 1: Simon Brett, A Corpse on the Court (2012)
December 6: David Rosenfelt, Sudden Death (2005)
